Let me preface this: After years of employment as a Welder/Fabricator in various high end industries such as Aerospace, Motorsports/NASCAR and working with organizations such as the U.S. Olympic Bobsled team, I decided it was time to take a leap of faith and go out on my own. Flat broke, clueless and under the gun to get a Christmas gift for the woman I was dating at the time, I had to think fast. In my cold, damp shop I found some scrap steel and a hood prop from a Subaru lying around, and got to work. 60 minutes, some curse words and frozen hands later and I had created my first rose. whew. Christmas saved.

Then it hit me... I couldn’t be the only person struggling to come up with something more thoughtful than a gift card or nice coffee mug. So I created a Facebook page, and got to work spreading the word. Within a week, the local news channel was at my door looking to feature me in their “made in Vermont” segment, which showcases hometown artisanal work. As soon as the interview aired, The response and encouragement was overwhelming. Next morning at 7am I had people standing outside the barn in the cold waiting to get their loved ones roses for Valentines day.

Fast forward 3 years after buying kerosene with spare change for my (dangerous) space heater, sleeping on the concrete shop floor with an electric blanket and a stack of USPS shipping boxes as a pillow, Custom Artisan Co. has grown into what you see before you today. Thousands of worldwide customers, 55,000+ fans/subscribers have transformed this company into one of the leading manufacturers of premium quality, meaningful gifts that continue to bring people together year after year. Still handmade, by me, one at a time as they always have been to serve as the centerpiece and lifelong reminder of the wonderful times and love shared between people.
